TheLadyLazarus

[Codename: DoubleL] (AKA TheLadyLazarus or "LL") is a very mysterious fan fiction character connected to the GuillotineCalamity (aka Sister) ARG Arc on YouTube. The contributor of this charater introduced LL by utilizing lines from the poem "''Lady Lazarus''" by Sylvia Plath in the first ten videos.

What is known about "LadyLazarus"?

As of yet, there is not very much information out there on LadyLazarus (AKA "LL" or DoubleL.) There are more questions than answers concerning this character. One of the biggest questions is whether "Lady" Lazarus is in fact a lady.... Recent discussions on the CTK Forums have led players to believe that LL is actually a man. Of course it hasn't helped that we never really see LL's face as it is usually covered by a strange mask. Even so, LL's face has also been blurred, smudged and faded in some videos.

The change of the name from TheLadyLazarus to "Codename: DoubleL" has made it easier to create the ambiguity of gender.

Another big question is DoubleL's relation to Sister. There are some players who swear that DoubleL has been a truly evil character from the beginning. While it is true that her first set of videos were definitely not of a jovial nature, her more recent actions do not reciprocate such intentions.

As of late, Double L seems to be quite friendly with GuillotineCalamity. One of LLs first LiveJournal blogs looked at first to be a message to someone who called themselves "B", but later it was found that there was also a message encrypted within; warning Sister of her grandfather, W. Oddly enough, this wasn't the first time Double L has sent Sister a message of warning concerning W. Though, for the sake of argument, this may also be seen as LL  taunting Sister about being chased.

DoubleL and Sister.... Friends or foes?

In all "TheLadyLazarus", "LL", "DoubleL"... Whatever you wish to call him/her, this is an incredibly complicated character, and will continue to be so until he/she chooses to reveal more about themself... but I have a sinking feeling that there will be an end to all this, soon...

LL's Clues and Puzzles - Video Clues:

[[Image:Hell_hath_2.jpg|right|175px|thumb|The second TinyPic URL photo that raised some questions, seeing as it has LL's mask over Lg15's face]]

Codename: DoubleL has proven to be a pretty busy person at times. In her most recent set of videos she has left various clues for the players to think on. Some of them in the form of tiny codes...

* The Message (Originally Aired on January 14, 2007, but is currently "deleted" from the YouTube account)
This video was intended to be a response to GuillotineCalamity's videos, The Invitation [Part 2].... In "The Message", DoubleL answers most of the questions Sister had muttered to herself as she had walked through a dark (and seemingly empty) house finding various items. The way this was done was that "LL"? retraced the steps that Sister had taken through the house. Each of the items that Sister had come across, this time had an extra clue, thereby answering the questions running through Sister's mind...

It can be argued that Sister was being either taunted or helped by LL with the actions of showing the importance of those items she had passed by.
One of the more notable nods was a message written on a wall or fence that Sister scanned over. Sister had "spotlighted" the writing on the wall, but it was still difficult to make out. With help from LL, we find the the message is... "They're all dead. They just don't know it, yet."

* The set of "Rebirth of Cassie" videos (First started airing on January 20th of 2007, and as of yet has not ended.)

We now turn our attention to DoubleL's most recent videos; an arc which has been dubbed, the "Rebirth Of Cassie". Each of the clues left within these videos were tiny codes that were easily decpihered to be tinypic URLs. Each picture found in their respective tinyurl had Double L's signature mask in them... many times.

  • from [Cassie(?)] Part I], the code "2co0z01" was found in the last few seconds of the video.  The pic found: A general montage of scary LL masks with the word "HELL" superimposed on the pic.
  • from [Cassie(?)] Part II, the code "403ip79" was found, also in the last few seconds of the video. The code was a little less discernable, this time. It is led to believe that because of this, the pic found from this code has a bit more meaning than the other two. In the pic found: like the previous one, featured a montage of scary LL masks, and this time, the words "HATH NO" superimposed on the pic... but... what set this one apart was...
    • it featured Bree (the 'starlet' of the LG15 world) in the center.
    • part of the backdrop was where Jonas (another LG15 character) initially made his videos. Revealing the fact that this part of the pic was taken from when Bree had done a vlog from Jonas' house. Most likey her most recent video, in which she expressed her irritation and distress with her male counterpart(s).
    • lastly, a scary LL mask had been superimposed on Bree's face.
  • from [Cassie(?)] Part III (Through the Wall), the code "2poqgpz" was found, but this time was seen in the '''first''' few seconds of the video, and easily visible, like the first one was. Also, just like its predecessors, a montage of scary LL masks, and superimposed on the pic, the word "FURY". The only things worth any note were:
    • another character partially superimposed with an LL mask. This one was proven to be Daniel.
    • and a part of the upper left of the pic that looked somewhat like a door. You've gotta admit that it just looked a little out of place...
  • from [Cassie(?)] Part IV] near the end (around :27 or :28 in the video) yet another code "48efdz5" flashes intermittently, in plain view. You just need to freeze the video at the right time, to see it. And again, another montage of scary LL masks... The word "LIKE" is in the pic... Noteables:
    • this time... it looks like it's... Jonas in a partial LL mask. (lower-left hand corner)
    • and DoubleL's mismatched blue and brown eyes keep watch.
  • from [Cassie(?)] Part V (near :17) the code "2cmwzh0" flashes in plain view. And again, another montage. The word "A" is in the pic.
    • It is speculated that this pic is a comparison between TheLadyLazarus, him/herself and Tachyon.  Since no one knows for sure what Tachyon looks like, only her eyes; the comparison is made as if the two are staring the viewer down.

So far, the phrase in the pictures, when put together is "HELL HATH NO FURY LIKE A..." (Which, at the time, is rumored to be one of the current answers to Sister's "Knock Thrice" riddles). Is DoubleL trying to reference to something that may happen in the Breeniverse, or is he/she just trying to send a message to Bree? This would seem quite odd, since Bree has not seemed to be able to see any of the GC or LL videos.

LL's Clues and Puzzles - The Blog:

So far, DoubleL has made (3) posts into the blog on LiveJournal.  The last one having been entered on January 28, 2007.  The first two blogs each featured a letter to a character LL calls "B" (this character is later confirmed to be YouTube user ProjectStatic.) Both letters tell very coherent stories, but were found to actually be carrying coded messages to Sister.

On DoubleL's blog description there is always a hint as to which code she may be using currently, in the blog. During the time the first two entries were written, it was found that LL was utilizing the Sebald Code, which was first mentioned in Lemony Snicket: The Unauthorized Autobiography; attributed to Dr. Gustav Sebald. The Sebald code is quite easy to spot and almost as easy to read... if you know how. Otherwise, it can be wuite tricky.

The key to finding a Sebald code is to be alert for a ringing sound. In the case of DoubleL's letters to "B" it was was the tell-tale "ring-ring" imitating a phone. Whenever that ringing is heard, the code has been intiated! The first word after the ring is the first word in the code, then every 11th word is in code. When  you hear a ringing again, the code has ended.

Blog #1 "Dearest B" Posted, January 23rd, 2007:

  • The blog is written in plain script, unencrypted in any way (other than the Sebald code mentioned above.) After using the Sebald code technique, the following message was found within the letter.

"guillotine calamity beware W is near He will get You you won't live DoubleL."

Blog #2 "Fall is dory. Horn Fist Hu." Posted, January 24th, 2007:

  • This blog, the second letter to "B" is believed to be a bit more important than the first, due to it being quite heavily encrypted, this time. The message had gone through multiple stages of encoding. The blog itself was posted in morse code. After decoding from morse code it had to be decoded from binary. Yet, even decoding from binay, the letter was then revealed to have been written in reverse.  Of course, all this time and after 'flipping the script' (ARG-talk for un-reversing text) the team still ran the message through the Sebald code gambit, which revealed another hidden message:
"B her eyes are black now I'm scared DoubleL"
  • Also of note in the second blog entry is that an anagram was found in its title: "L is for Lady, H is for Hurt"

Both letters are still under heavy speculation and investigation.

Blog #3 "A garden I'll never see." Posted, January 28, 2007:

  • This blog entry turned out to be rather strange.  Well, to this reporter, it did, at least.  It didn't really seemlike LL's style... or is he/she trying to show a true side of him/herself, in this one?  This entry doesn't seem to be directed toward anyone, but the fact that part of it was "written" in morse code is a bit strange.  After decoding, found is another backwards message.
Again, it is not known who this entry was composed in mind for.   Though, in light of this, we may have been given a glimpse of how LL really thinks.

[Codename: DoubleL] The Videos:

The titles of many of LL's videos are a bit peculiar. Especially the first ten. When compiled together and put in reverse order they make the sentence: "If Looks Could Kill Then I Would Make Myself Blind".  Many questions have been raised as to the meaning of this phrase.  Though the quote's origins are not entirely known, the ProjectStatic's first video "Project Static" offers a possible explanation at the end.

On February 3rd, 2007 LL claimed that his/her YouTube Account was being hacked, and subsequently most of the videos were lost.  The only videos available, currently are the ones from the "Rebirth of Cassie" story mentioned above.  LL has mentioned that he/she is in the process of getting the rest of the videos back and restoring them on the [Codename: DoubleL] YouTube account.
